Arson Suspected As Apparent Car Fire Damages Downers Grove Business

Police believe someone may have set fire to a Dodge Sprinter Van that was parked near a business on Walnut Avenue.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police say arson is suspected after an apparent car fire damaged a business in Downers Grove.

Police and firefighters were called to 5104 Walnut Ave. around 11:30 a.m. on August 24 for a report of a fire. When they got to the scene, they found a "vehicle engulfed in flames" near the back of the building. According to Google Maps, Fire Restoration Inc. is located at the aforementioned address.

According to a police report, firefighters believe the blaze was started "near/in a Dodge Sprinter van" before it caught two other cars on fire and spread to the back of the business.
