Drunken Bar Fight
Robert J. Schroeder, 33, of the 5700 block of Aubrey Terrace in Downers Grove, was arrested at 8:58 p.m. at a bar in the 5100 block of Main Street, police said.
Police were called to the bar at 8:43 p.m. for a report of a fight between two men. When they arrived, they observed Schroeder, who had a bloody face and shirt, yelling at another man, according to reports.
Schroeder was stumbling, yelling and then became aggressive with officers, police said. Schroeder was restrained due to his "aggressive and threatening behavior," according to reports.
A witness told police Schroeder was inside the bar "being loud and obnoxious," prompting the manager to ask him to leave. The witness said he went outside to smoke a cigarette and saw Schroeder yelling at and "disrespecting" a group of women, police said.
The witness told Schroeder to leave the women alone and to leave the area. Schroeder then attempted to re-enter the bar. When the witness tried to stop him, Schroeder struck him on the left cheek and jaw with an open hand, police said.
The witness responded by punching Schroeder in the nose with a closed fist. The two men were yelling at one another when police arrived.
Schroeder was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. An officer rode in the ambulance to aid in restraining him since he was being aggressive with paramedics, police said.
