Police: Activity on Forest Avenue in Downers Grove a False Alarm
Heavy police activity was reported in the 4200 block of Forest Avenue between 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. Monday.

Heavy police activity in the 4200 block of Forest Avenue in Downers Grove on Monday was nothing more than a false alarm, authorities said.
The Downers Grove Police Department and Illinois State Police blocked off the area surrounding Forest Avenue and 41st Street—just north of Main Street and Ogden Avenue—around 1 p.m. after a home security alarm went off, police said.
Although the home was surrounded by several squad cars and a K-9 unit, the incident turned out to be a false alarm, according to Downers Grove Police Lt. Mike Willison.

The alarm was apparently set off when a guest of wind blew a window open, which prompted a call to the police department around 12:45 p.m. The responding officer thought he heard someone in the house, and called for assistance, Willison said.
No one was found in the home and nothing was missing. Police left the scene around 2 p.m.
