Ruse Burglary Reported At Home In Downers Grove
A man claimed to be from a tree cutting service during a ruse burglary at a home on Woodward Avenue.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Items were stolen from a home in Downers Grove after a man posed as a tree cutter during a ruse burglary.
A resident told police that a man came to their home in the 4900 block of Woodward Avenue around 3 p.m. on Sept. 23, claiming to work for an organization that does tree maintenance. The man then took the resident to part of the yard that he said needed work.
The man then told the resident they needed to wait for his boss to arrive to complete some paperwork. After 15 minutes with no one arriving, the resident went to the front of their home and noticed the man had left.

Police say that around 4:30 a.m., the resident became aware that the following items were missing from their home:
- Last will and testament paperwork
- Birth certificate
- Social Security card
- Passport
- Wedding bands
- $45 cash
The suspect was described as a thin white man, standing about five feet, six inches tall and wearing a black face mask.
