2nd Annual Jane Barbosa Legacy Brunch for Latinx Heritage Month

Elgin Community College to host second annual Jane Barbosa Legacy Brunch on September 12 as part of Latinx Heritage Month.

The second annual Jane Barbosa Legacy Brunch will take place on September 12 from 9:30 to 11:30 am as part of Latinx Heritage Month at Elgin Community College (ECC). Funds raised will support the We Rise Jane Barbosa Scholarship, which provides scholarships for undocumented, DACE, and mixed-status ECC students.

The event will be held at ECC, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, Illinois, Building B, in the Jobe Lounge. The brunch will feature keynote speaker Rey Wences, senior director of deportation defense at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) and former first deputy of immigrant, migrant, and refugee rights in the City of Chicago.

General admission tickets are available for $50 per guest, and ECC student tickets are $30. To purchase tickets, visit elgin.edu. Space is limited. The deadline is Monday, September 1, at 11:59 pm, or while seats are available.

ECC will celebrate Latinx Heritage all semester.
