CHICAGO β€” Chris Noche, a registered nurse in Advocate Sherman Hospital’s emergency department, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Tuesday’s Chicago Cubs game against the San Francisco Giants. This week is also National Nurses Week.

After throwing out a ceremonial first pitch, Noche joined other Advocate Health Care nurses to enjoy the game.

β€œBeing able to throw out the ceremonial first pitch was quite the experience and one I will never forget,” Noche said. β€œIt was an honor to be selected. I am so proud to work alongside the excellent team of nurses and clinicians and thankful for the opportunity to recognize them with the Chicago Cubs.”

Noche, of Lincolnwood, has been a nurse at Sherman for more than six years. He continues to provide exceptional and compassionate care to patients, mentor new nurses and brings his infectious positivity to the department every shift.

β€œRegardless of how busy the shift gets, he always shows up with a smile, ready to face any challenge head-on,” Jenna Peterburs, manager of the emergency department, said. β€œHis presence is a beacon of light in the emergency department, not only uplifting his colleagues but also creating a calming atmosphere for patients in what can often be a chaotic environment.”

Since 2011, Noche has been an active military member and currently serves as a First-Class Petty Officer, Hospital Corpsman with the U.S. Navy. His service with the Navy gives him a unique perspective on patient care and helps him to remain calm and composed during high-pressure situations.

β€œChris has dedicated himself to improving patient care and ensuring all patients feel comfortable and cared for,” said Susan Morby, Chief Nursing Officer of Advocate Sherman Hospital. β€œHe has a deep sense of service to others and is an inspiration to other nurses through his positive nature.”
