Chicago Man Gets 15 Years For Sex Abuse Of 2 Children He Knew
The state's attorney's office said the crimes took place at the victims' home and one of the victims told their mom, who called police.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A Chicago man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the Illinois Department of Corrections on felony charges of criminal sex abuse of two children he knew, after one of the victims told her mother about the crimes, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. Esequiel Gonzalez Banuelos, 24, of the 3400 block of West 73rd street, Chicago agreed to the sentence in court Thursday in exchange for a guilty plea of felony predatory criminal sexual abuse, and felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse, the state's attorney's office said.
Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers stated in court that between September 2012 and May 2017 Gonzalez Banuelos sexually abused and assaulted two children. The crimes took place at the victims’ home in Carpentersville, the state's attorney's office said, adding that after one of the victims told their mother, she called police.
In addition to the prison term, Gonzalez Banuelos must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act, according to a release.

The sentence is 10 years for the Class X felony, and five years for the Class 2 felony, the state's attorney's office said. However, he is eligible for day-for-day sentencing on the five-year sentence, officials add.
