Crews Rescue Ducklings From Sewers, Drains In Elgin And Algonquin
Several ducklings were rescued by city crews, fire and police department members over the weekend in Elgin and Algonquin.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — It was an eventful weekend for ducks across the area as several were rescued from storm sewers and drains in Elgin and Algonquin. The Village of Algonquin reported crews from the Algonquin Public Works Department rescued baby ducklings from a drain on South Harrison Street near Cornish Park Friday. Northwest Herald added that the (eight) ducklings were rescued from the drainpipes behind Cattleman's Burger and Brew.
Crews in Algonquin were assisted by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.
Two days later, the Elgin Fire Department said their crews helped rescue eight ducklings that fell into a Randall Road storm sewer on Sunday. The fire department said all the ducklings were rescued, and successfully released by Elgin police.
