Elgin Community College Center for Emergency Services Hosts Open House & Touch a Truck Event

Climb aboard fire engines and patrol vehicles, watch live firefighter training, and meet first responders

Elgin Community College’s Center for Emergency Services will host its 4th Annual Open House and Touch-a-Truck event on September 20, 2025.

Elgin Community College’s Center for Emergency Services (CES) in Burlington invites the community to a free Open House and Touch-a-Truck on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Families can climb aboard fire engines and patrol vehicles, watch live firefighter training at the CES burn tower, and see demonstrations from local fire, police, and EMS teams.

Visitors will also meet ECC public safety faculty and first responders, enjoy food trucks, kid-friendly activities, and take home free ECC giveaways.

The event runs from 11 am to 2 pm at ECC’s Center for Emergency Services, 815 E. Plank Road in Burlington.

Prospective students interested in careers in fire science, criminal justice, or emergency medical services are encouraged to attend a special informational session from 10 to 11 am. Registration is required at elgin.edu/emergencyservices.
