Elgin Man Accused Of Armed Robbery In January Dating App Meeting
The man is accused of armed robbery after setting up a meet up through a dating app back in January.
ELGIN, IL — An Elgin man accused of using a dating app to meet with someone and reportedly robbing them at gunpoint back in January is facing criminal charges after months of investigating, according to a release from the Kane County State’s Attorney's office. Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon has charged Dashaun Harvest, 20, of the 900 block of St. Charles Street, with the felony offenses of armed robbery and aggravated robbery armed with a firearm according to the release.
Harvest appeared in Kane County bond court Monday, according to the release, where Associate Judge Keith Johnson set Harvest’s bail at $200,000 with 10 percent to apply for bond, the release said.

According to the release, Kane County prosecutors reported the victim showed up to the arranged meeting sometime after 1 a.m., Jan 12, during which Harvest reportedly pointed a handgun at them, and demanded money. The victim reportedly gave Harvest $50 in cash, the release said. Harvest then left, and the victim called police, according to officials.
Harvest’s next court appearance is set for July 3 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
