Elgin Man Charged With Murder In 2021 Death Of Infant Son: Prosecutor

ELGIN, IL β€” A 23-year-old Elgin man faces first-degree murder charges in the death of his infant son, who prosecutors say died from blunt force trauma to the head at the hands of his father.

Malik M. Davis was charged in connection with the death of his son, who suffered injuries that caused his death in March 2021, the Kane County State’s Attorney announced on Thursday. In addition to the murder charge, Davis also faces 10 counts of aggravated battery stemming from the incident.

A grand jury also indicted Davis on charges alleging that he inflicted injuries on an infant girl. Davis faces nine counts of battery in that incident, the state’s attorney's office said. In all, Davis faces 19 counts of aggravated battery and eight counts of first-degree murder, prosecutors announced.

Davis was taken into custody last month in Pettit County, Missouri, and was transported to the Kane County Jail on Wednesday.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday on the charges.
