Elgin Man Tattooed With 'Live by the Gun' Busted In Armed Robbery

Charges of one count of armed robbery with a firearm, and one count of armed violence were authorized against Jeffrey Richardson, of Elgin.

ELGIN, IL — Officers with the Elgin Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery involving a handgun at 9:08 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of Larkin Avenue, and eventually arrested an Elgin man who had "Live by the gun, Die by the gun" tattooed on his neck. According to police, officers arrived at the scene (of a gas station) and met with the victim who they said wasn't injured during the incident. Officers found a person matching the offender's description in the area, arrested him after a short chase, and recovered money that was reportedly stolen, according to police.

The man was identified as 28-year-old Jeffrey Richardson, of the 200 block of Locust Street.

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and authorized felony charges of one count of armed robbery with a firearm, and one count of armed violence against Richardson, police said.

Richardson's bail was set at $150,000 with 10 percent to apply for bond on May 2 in Kane County Court.
