• Boys basketball: Hersey heads back to Elgin, takes second to Waukegan (dailyherald.com) — Elgin’s Holiday Hoops Fest hosted a strong boys basketball final Saturday, where Hersey’s undefeated season ended with a 63-55 loss to defending champion Waukegan at Chesbrough Fieldhouse. The Huskies, choosing to play closer to home instead of the long-running Pekin tournament, reached the title game behind standout performances from senior forward Jake Nawrot and guard Logan Luxem.
