Streamwood Men Arrested After Elgin Chase, Gun Found In SUV
According to the Kane County Sheriff's Office, one of the men arrested Sunday night was found to be a convicted felon.
ELGIN, IL — A Streamwood man is facing felony weapon charges after an SUV he was reportedly in drove away when a sheriff's deputy tried stopping the SUV for driving without headlights Sunday in Elgin, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said in a release. The deputy was patrolling the area of McLean Blvd. and Wing St. after sunset when he tried stopping a Chevrolet Equinox, but the SUV drove off through a neighborhood street at over 50 mph, according to the release. The SUV eventually stopped, and four men were arrested by sheriff's deputies and officers with the Elgin Police Department, the sheriff's office said.
According to the sheriff's office, the driver of the SUV, 22-year-old Dequan J.M. Bailey, of Streamwood, was arrested and is facing a felony charge of aggravated fleeing (traveling over 21 mph over the speed limit). He was released on a recognizance bond, according to the release.
When deputies searched the SUV, they found a loaded Glock handgun in the front passenger seat area, where the sheriff's office said Kevin J. Hamilton, 21 of Streamwood, was sitting. According to the sheriff's office, Hamilton was found to be a convicted felon, and was arrested on accusations of unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and two counts of felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. His bond was set at $60,000, according to the sheriff's office.

“We are creating a community where there is no need to commit crime or become involved with drugs because we have opportunities and support to lead a productive life, even for those with felonies on their record," Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said, in the release. "If you choose to come to Kane to commit crime, expect to be met with zero tolerance by our law enforcement officers."
