Tentative Contract Agreement Reached For District U46 Teachers

The goal is to have the ratified contract presented to the school board for approval during a May 6 board meeting, The Chicago Tribune said.

ELGIN, IL — In a joint statement, officials from School District U46 and the Elgin Teachers Association announced Wednesday morning a tentative agreement on a new contract for district teachers has been reached, according to The Chicago Tribune. The tentative agreement comes as both sides have been negotiating for months in an effort to replace the contract that expired in August, The Chicago Tribune Reported. The news report added that this is the second tentative agreement both sides have reached since May 2018, as the first proposed contract was rejected by teachers.

No details on the new contract is available until union members are updated, according to The Chicago Tribune. However, if all goes as planned, the ratified contract could be presented to the school board for approval during a May 6 board meeting.
