Alleged Elmhurst Petition Forgeries Still Being Investigated
Patch sought prosecutors' report on the inquiry into a former mayoral candidate's ballot petition.

ELMHURST, IL – DuPage County prosecutors apparently are still investigating former Elmhurst mayoral candidate Mark Mulliner's ballot petition, which is believed to contain forgeries.
In December, Patch determined that the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office launched an inquiry into the petition.
Recently, Patch filed a public records request for the report from the investigation.

In response, the office last week denied the request. It said the record's disclosure would interfere with a "pending or actually and reasonably contemplated law enforcement proceedings."
Patch previously reported that residents at seven addresses on Mulliner's petition said no one in their households signed it.

Four pages of the 72-page petition are in question. Addison resident Lawrence Moretti, a Republican precinct committeeman from Addison Township, gathered the signatures on those pages.
His wife, Pamela Moretti, who was Addison Township's elected clerk at the time, notarized Moretti's signature on the petition pages.
Mulliner and the Morettis have not returned messages for comment.
In the April election, Mayor Scott Levin, who sought re-election, defeated Mulliner with 72 percent of the vote.
