Car Broken Into Near Elmhurst Police Station: Cops

In another case, people deemed suspicious were seen near an Elmhurst church, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a car burglary, suspicious people near a church, attempted retail theft, DUI, criminal trespassing, a dog bite and a domestic disturbance. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Car burglary

  • Someone burglarized an unlocked car about 10:30 a.m. Saturday on the street near the Elmhurst police station, 125 E. First St. Various items were stolen. An investigation is pending.

Deemed suspicious

  • Two people deemed suspicious were seen about 9 p.m. Sunday at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios, 893 N. Church Road. Police were asked to serve the pair with no-trespass notices. Police did so.

Aggravated fleeing

  • Amos E. Bailey, 26, of Chicago, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Friday on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, improper lane usage, speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. The incident was near York and South streets. Police said they tried to stop Bailey, but he fled. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Attempted retail theft

  • A 60-year-old Hinsdale woman was arrested about 9 p.m. Friday on charges of attempted retail theft and attempted forgery. Police said the woman tried to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit bill at Shell gas station, 218 E. Butterfield Road. She was released.

Aggravated DUI

  • Angel Vega Parades, 23, of Chicago, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of North Kenilworth Avenue on charges of aggravated DUI, driving with a suspended license and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Criminal trepass

  • A 20-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Saturday on charges of criminal trespass to vehicles, possession of marijuana by a passenger and possession of tobacco by someone under 21. Police said the incident occurred near Route 83 and Interstate 290. The man was released.

Broken window

  • A front window was broken about 9 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of East Diversey Avenue. An investigation is pending.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police were called about a domestic disturbance Sunday at the apartment complex at 505 W. St. Charles Road. A woman said another person battered her during an argument over property. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements and no visible injuries.

Dog bite

  • A dog bite was reported about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Elm Park Avenue. The dog owner was cited on a charge of not getting the required rabies vaccination for the dog. DuPage County Animal Services was notified.

DUI

  • A 54-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 11 p.m. Saturday at North Avenue and Interstate 290 on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 24-year-old Mount Prospect man was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and disobeying a traffic control signal. He was taken to the police station and then released.
