Car Hits Elmhurst Home In Police Pursuit: Cops

The suspect also crashed into a pickup truck at a local intersection, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – A suspect crashed into a pickup truck and then a home's garage during a pursuit Friday morning in Elmhurst, local police said.

About 8:20 a.m., Villa Park officers found a car involved in an incident in their town, but the driver sped away into Elmhurst, police said. The officers chased it.

The driver headed south on Berkley Avenue, crashing into the pickup at Berkley and Prairie Path Lane, Elmhurst police said.

The driver continued south and veered off the street and collided with an attached garage in the 500 block of South Berkley, police said.

Three suspects ran away, but officers caught them shortly after, police said.

During the incident, Elmhurst police advised the school district to place Lincoln Elementary into "secure-and-teach" status, which was lifted after the incident ended.

No injuries were reported in the crash with the truck. And no one was inside the garage at the time, police said.
