Did Somebody Say Christmas?

It's not too early. Really—it's not! If you want to get in on the neighborhood Christmas tree tradition, the time to order is now. Orders are due Oct. 28.

The thought of the winter holidays may be far from most people’s minds, but the District 205 Foundation hopes everyone in Elmhurst will take a few minutes to envision what the city looks like in December with block upon block lit up with front-yard trees.

These tree displays seem to impart a magical feeling to the holidays and certainly contribute to the spirit of Christmas in Elmhurst. The tradition of neighbors getting together and purchasing the outdoor trees for their blocks started decades ago, thanks to the creative minds of a few neighbors. Each year, the tradition has spread to more and more neighborhoods in Elmhurst.

If your block has yet to adopt this holiday tradition or if you want to increase the number of participants on your block, consider talking to your neighbors and organizing the purchase of yard trees through the foundation’s tree sales.

Trees can be ordered online by clicking here, or you can call (630) 617-2376. But hurry—orders are due Oct. 28. Yard trees ordered for a specific block will be delivered on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 30.

Yard trees and indoor trees in smaller quantities may be picked up Saturday, Dec. 7, at Bryan Middle School. Information can be found on the Foundation’s website.
