Elmhurst Grocery Cart Ramming Brings Police
In another case, an Elmhurst man was accused of dealing drugs, local authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving battery, drugs, trespassing, a deer collision, retail theft, a restaurant disturbance, theft and a suspicious car. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Battery
- A woman told police that a man rammed his cart into her several times about 5 p.m. Wednesday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. He drove a black Cadillac. An investigation is pending.

- Jose H. Velasquez Jr., 22, who lives in the 200 block of East North Avenue, was arrested about 1 p.m. May 29 at his house on two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Trespassing
- A 43-year-old Villa Park man was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave., on a criminal trespassing charge. The man, who has been previously issued a no-trespassing notice at the library, was released.
Withdrawing money

- A person tried to withdraw money from Huntington Bank's ATM about 10 a.m. Sunday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The person received an error message and did not receive the money, but the transaction was posted. The bank advised him to file a report.
Deer collision
- A 21-year-old Bolingbrook woman's car struck a deer about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at York Street and Roosevelt Road.
Restaurant disturbance
- Police responded to a disturbance about 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pazzi di Pizza restaurant, 105 S. York St. The restaurant asked for a suspect to be served with a no-trespass notice. An officer did so.
Retail theft
- A 60-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 2 p.m. Wednesday on two counts of retail theft. The incident took place at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave. He was released.
Damage
- Someone broke a plastic flower pot between midnight and 7 a.m. Monday in a front yard in the 400 block of South Prospect Avenue.
Theft
- A driver of a black Ford Explorer pumped gas and left without paying about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the BP gas station, 217 E. Butterfield Road. An investigation is pending.
Suspicious car
- A woman told police that a white Chevrolet Silverado appeared to be following her as she was out for a walk Tuesday. She was in the area of Schiller Street and Haven Road.
DUI
- A 31-year-old Batavia man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at North Avenue and Oak Street on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. He was taken to the police station and then released.
Soliciting without a permit
- A 27-year-old Joliet man was cited about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of South Sunnyside Avenue on a charge of soliciting without a permit.
