Elmhurst Man Arrested In Road Rage Incident

In another case, a man was charged after punching a TV, among other things, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving road rage, damage at the hospital, domestic disturbances, a possible dispute over a dog, burglary and a suspicious person. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Road rage

  • A 40-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 400 block of South West Avenue was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Monday at York Street and Butterfield Road on a disorderly conduct charge. Police said the man was involved in a road rage incident in which he drove recklessly, got out of his car and threatened a man. He was released.

  • A 33-year-old Bensenville man was arrested Monday on a criminal property damage charge. Police said the man punched and broke a TV and damaged a computer monitor and wall mount on the morning of May 14 at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The man turned himself in at the police station. He was released.

Domestic disturbances

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of South Poplar Avenue. A person said he was in his bedroom when his mother screamed and pounded on his bedroom door. The woman said she was simply knocking on his door to take out the garbage. The dispute did not get physical.
  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of North Myrtle Avenue. A woman and her grandson got into an argument. They agreed to separate for the night.

Possible dispute over a dog

  • A resident in the 100 block of East South Avenue told police Monday that a neighbor tried to let a dog out and then brought it to the backyard when unsuccessful. The resident believes the neighbor was trying to intimidate him because of a previous incident involving the dog. No violations were found.

Burglary

  • Tayveon G. Wood, 20, of Chicago, was arrested Monday on two counts of burglary. Police said Wood stole merchandise about 9 p.m. June 10 at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Suspicious

  • A person was recorded walking on the outside of a property about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South West Avenue. An investigation is pending.

Soliciting without a permit

  • A 37-year-old Hilton Head, South Carolina, man was cited about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Saylor Avenue and Vallette Street on a charge of soliciting without a permit.

DUI

  • A 39-year-old Downers Grove man was arrested shortly after noon June 12 in the 300 block of West Elm Park Avenue on charges of DUI, failure to carry a driver's license and possession of open alcohol. Police said they were called about a man slumped behind the wheel. He was released.

Abandoned bikes

  • A person left a Schwinn Ranger mountain bike on June 13 in the vestibule at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive, but never returned. Three days later, the store called the police, who placed the bike into evidence.
  • An unlocked purple Schwinn GTX3 girls bicycle was left for several days in front of Starbucks, 164 N. York St. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping Tuesday.
