Elmhurst Resident Living In Unhealthy Conditions: Cops
In another case, a hurt deer in a local neighborhood was "humanely euthanized," police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a person living in unhealthy conditions, a scam, a "humanely euthanized" deer, a car burglary, property damage, a dog at large and theft. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Unhealthy conditions
- A resident in the 100 block of North Glenview Avenue was found Tuesday immobile, living in unhealthy conditions and needing the support of daily activities. The DuPage County Crisis Center and the Department of Aging were notified.

- A resident in the 100 block of East Knighton Place told police Wednesday that her computer froze and then displayed a message instructing her to call a number that was purportedly for Microsoft. Upon calling, she was directed to send money in bitcoin. She later handed over money to two men posing as couriers at her house. An investigation is pending.
"Humanely euthanized"
- An injured deer was found about noon Monday in the 900 block of South Prospect Avenue. Police said the deer was then "humanely euthanized."

- Someone entered an unlocked car in a driveway and stole money from the center console about 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of South Swain Avenue.
Property damage
- A 24-year-old man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Extended Stay America hotel, 550 W. Grand Ave., on charges of criminal property damage, possession of a controlled substance, resisting a police officer and obstructing identification. The man, whom police said provided a false name, lives at the hotel. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Dog at large
- A 45-year-old woman who lives in the 200 block of Grace Street was cited about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday near his house on charges of having a dog at large and not having a license for that dog.
Theft
- A 38-year-old man was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at 7-Eleven, 572 S. York St., on a theft charge. Police said he stole a shopping cart from Jewel. He was also wanted on a DuPage County trespassing warrant. No address for the man was included in the police blotter, though he was listed as an Elmhurst resident before. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- Packages set to be delivered were stolen about 9:30 a.m. May 25 at the Target Sortation Center, 615 W. Lake St. The report was filed Monday, two weeks later. An investigation is pending.
Argument
- A woman who found a watch in her car was involved in an argument while trying to return it to its owner. The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Elmhurst police station, 125 E. First St. The watch was submitted into evidence for safekeeping.
Soliciting without a permit
- A 31-year-old Villa Park man was cited about 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of East Sherman Avenue on a charge of soliciting without a permit.
Retail theft
- Someone stole merchandise about 9 p.m. Tuesday at Walgreens, 160 Robert Palmer Drive. An investigation is pending.
Fall
- A person fell about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday near Rex Boulevard and Prairie Path. She was treated and then released to her husband.
