Former Winnebago Elementary School PTO Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Stealing $19,000 From School
Tiffany Moormann will next appear in court November 10, 2016 for her sentencing.

A former Winnebago Elementary School PTO treasurer pled guilty today of stealing approximately $19,000 from the school, according to a release from DuPage County State Attorney Robert Berlin.
Tiffany Moormann, 41, had access to the organization’s bank account while she served as treasurer at the school. In December of 2015, PTO officials noticed a decrease in the amount of money believed to be in the organization’s bank account and, upon further investigation, discovered several unauthorized withdrawals from the account between December 2014 and November 2015. These withdrawals aligned with Moormann’s term as treasurer.
Among the things Moormann spent the $19,000 on were personal expenses including rent and other bills.

On February 9, 2016, a $100,000 arrest warrant was issued for Moormann, prompting her to turn herself in the next day. She was released after posting 10 percent of her bond and was charged with one count of theft over $10,000, which is a Class 2 Felony.
“In treating the Winnebago Elementary School PTO as her own personal fundraiser, Tiffany Moormann betrayed the trust placed in her by teachers, parents and students alike,” Berlin said in a release. “She treated the PTO’s bank account as her own personal piggy bank to be used for her needs and not the needs of the students or the school.”
