FRANKFORT, IL — Heavy snow and freezing temperatures ahead of the polar vortex are expected to bring hazardous conditions Monday. Schools, universities and other locations are canceling classes or delaying start times to keep people safe.
Officials are warning ahead of the polar vortex that is descending on the area to stay in when possible and to stay warm. So far, at least 18 people have died in Cook County from cold exposure since the start of the season, officials have said.
