Frankfort Man's Bluebird Photo Wins Forest Preserve Contest

FRANKFORT, IL — A photo taken by a Frankfort resident was the winner of the Forest Preserve District of Will County's Preserve the Moment contest for November. Michael Fagan's winning picture captures a bluebird flying from a birdhouse at Hickory Creek Preserve.
Fagan, who lives close to the preserve, told the district he enjoys shooting wildlife, plant and landscape photos during his walks through the preserve. The category for November's photo contest was structures, which included any man-made structure in a preserve could have been depicted, according to the district.
Honorable mentions in the November photo contest include: Brian Keller, Joliet; Janet Keller, Joliet; John D'Agostino, Homer Glen; and Chuck Medrano, Mokena. All of the photos can be seen at the forest preserve district's Flickr page.

The contest will be continuing for another month, and the cateogory for December will be open for photographers. Photos just need to be taken in a Will County forest preserve after May 1. December's winner will be chosen Dec. 31, and residents will be able to vote for the best overall photo among the eight monthly winners.

- First place: a messenger-style bag
- Second place: a digital photo frame
- Third place: a Michaels gift card
All participants will receive a gift for entering the contest. Rules and instructions can be found at the district's website.
