Will County Board Says 'No' to Harlem Ave. Car Wash
Frankfort Township Residents won a victory over a car wash looking for a zoning change to open near a residential area, WJOL reports

The proposed Lenny's Gas N Wash was turned down on a request for a zoning change by the Will County Board recently. The owners were seeking a zoning change and three special use permits to open a facility on Harlem and 194th Avenues.
All three requests were shot down by the Will County Board, according to a WJOL report.
The sticking points were highlighted by Frankfort Township residents at the meeting. Nearby residents showed up to express their displeasure over a car wash that also wanted authorization to function as a liquor-selling convenience store that would be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, WJOL reported.

Frankfort Township and Tinley Park residents have been fighting the facility for several months, complaining of the potential for "increased traffic, noise pollution, possible crime and diesel exhaust."
During a previous Will County Land Use Committee meeting, Frankfort Township Supervisor Jim Moustis said he was concerned that a "heavier commercial use bordering on industrial" could be developed on the site.
