2 New Sections Of Lane Closures Begin On East State Street
A third closure may also be required occasionally, city officials said. The work precedes the full East State Street reconstruction project.

GENEVA, IL — Two sections of lane closures on East State Street will begin anew the week of Nov. 3, Geneva officials said.
The closures, impacting westbound and eastbound traffic, are related to Nicor Gas, AT&T and Verizon relocating underground infrastructure ahead of the East State Street reconstruction project helmed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
AT&T crews will work from Harrison to Sandholm streets to adjust previously installed infrastructure, which will require an eastbound lane to close overnight. This section of highway should reopen during daytime hours, officials said.

Nicor Gas will continue working on eastbound State Street just east of East Side Drive. Eastbound traffic will be shifted to the north side of State Street, reducing Route 38 traffic to one lane in each direction from East Side Drive to Ridge and Briar lanes.
Verizon will work primarily on the westbound parkway to pull new cables throughout the project site. Crews may need to occasionally close a section of westbound traffic in various sections along the road.

The city continues to await utility relocation schedules from Metronet and Comcast.
Ongoing utility work is subject to change as it is weather-dependent, officials said.
