Women Who Fell Off Kayaks On Fox River Saved: Geneva PD

One woman was hospitalized after she was rescued from the Fox River, officials said.

GENEVA, IL — Two women were saved Sunday night after they fell out of their kayaks on the Fox River, the Geneva Fire Department said.

Firefighters and police officers were called around 10:43 p.m. to the 800 block of North Bennett Street after a bystander reported hearing screaming coming from the river.

Two police entered the river and helped one of the women to shore, while a Geneva Fire Department rescue boat was deployed to rescue the second woman.

One woman was hospitalized, and the other refused medical attention, officials said, noting in a news release Monday evening that no further information was available about their conditions.

Firefighters, paramedics and divers from the St. Charles and Batavia fire departments assisted in the rescue.
