GENEVA, IL — Two days after a July 4 parade shooting in Highland Park that left seven people dead and nearly 40 people wounded, community members will come together to grieve following a mass shooting during Highland Park's Fourth of July parade.

Seven people died and nearly 40 were injured after a gunman fired more than 70 bullets Monday morning, Patch reported. Five people were pronounced dead at the scene, and another person died in the emergency room Monday. A seventh person succumbed to their injuries Tuesday.

Kane County Democrats are hosting a candlelight vigil from 8-9 p.m. outside the Kane County Courthouse, located at 100 S. Third St. in downtown Geneva. Elected officials, candidates and activists are scheduled to speak during the "Enough is Enough" vigil.

"In light of the mass shooting in Highland Park, we are once again called to join in solidarity," organizers said.

The group's statement continued: "This gun violence has to stop, and we cannot keep saying 'it can’t happen here' because Highland Park is just a drive away and what happened there can happen here. We need change and to make our voices heard. Enough is enough."

After an hourslong manhunt Monday, Robert "Bobby" Crimo III, 21, of Highwood, was arrested in Lake Forest by officers from multiple agencies, Patch reported. The shooting in Highland Park was the deadliest mass shooting in Illinois in almost three decades.
