Holiday Lights Can Be Recycled At 3 Locations In Geneva

The city partnered with a nearby recycling center to offer a free recycling program for broken or unwanted holiday lights.

GENEVA, IL — Geneva residents who have old, broken or unwanted strands of holiday lights can recycle them this year at one of three locations in town, officials said.

The City of Geneva is collaborating with eWorks, a recycling center in Wheeling, to offer the program through Jan. 31.

  • Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St.
    • Open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Geneva Public Library, 227 S. Seventh St.
    • Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday
  • Geneva Park District, Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave.
    • Open 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Lights accepted include mini or Italian lights, C7 and C9 lights, rope lights, LED strands, and extension cords. Garland, wreaths and outdoor display pieces will not be accepted.
