Geneva native graduates from Rochester Institute of Technology

Local students graduate from Bradley University

Bradley University congratulates the 900-plus students who earned degrees in May. The following students earned degrees:

Geneva students named to Bradley University Spring 2023 Dean's List

More than 1700 students were named to Bradley's Dean's List for Spring 2023. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.

Ole Miss graduate honored by Alpha Omicron Pi

Eliza Peters, a member of the Nu Beta Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Mississippi from Geneva, IL, who graduated from the university with bachelor's degrees in rhetoric and journalism in May, was honored with a prestigious award at the 52nd International Convention of the fraternity held June 21-25 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

The Mary Louise Roller Award honors one collegiate member who has provided outstanding service and leadership to her local Panhellenic, campus and community. Named after the organization's first leader to serve as president of the National Panhellenic Council, the award is bestowed on the collegiate member who best typifies and brings honor to the values and principles practiced by Roller.

The esteemed award remains one of the fraternity's most prominent and highly recognized awards for collegiate individuals and was presented during the formal Rose Banquet of the convention by AOII's international president.

"Receiving the Mary Louise Roller Award is a true highlight of each convention," said Kaya Miller, executive director of Alpha Omicron Pi. "Eliza is most deserving of this distinguished award because of her unwavering dedication to the Panhellenic sisterhood within the Ole Miss campus. She stands as a shining example of the ideals and standards by which our organization was founded."

Geneva resident named to MIAA Academic Honor Roll

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the recipients of the 2022-23 MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In total, 273 individual student-athletes at Trine University were recognized by the MIAA on the 2022-23 Academic Honor Roll, the most of any league schools. Student-athletes must reach a 3.5 grade-point average for the academic year and earn a varsity letter in an MIAA-sponsored sport to be eligible.

John Konicek of Geneva was among those honored. Konicek is part of the men's lacrosse team at Trine and is majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
