Delnor Hospital Cancer Center Closed After Gas Leak
The rest of Delnor Hospital's campus buildings are open for their normal business hours Tuesday, according to the City of Geneva.
GENEVA, IL — The Geneva Fire Department and Nicor officials responded to the Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital's Cancer Center, 304 Randall Road, Tuesday afternoon for a gas leak, the City said in a release Tuesday afternoon. According to the City, appointments at the cancer center have been cancelled as the building has closed for the remainder of Tuesday. However, other campus buildings can be accessed via the campus' north entrance while the traffic flow returns to normal for those trying to access Delnor's south campus entrance following the incident.
A construction crew working on an expansion project at the hospital's cancer center accidentally struck a gas line, and firefighters were called to the incident at 12:21 p.m., according to the release.
Nicor's dig crew managed to shut off the gas leak at outside the Delnor Hospital's cancer center just after 3 p.m., according to the City, and repairs to the damaged gas line will be ongoing for the next few hours. The City asks that you please use caution when driving near the work zone.

The cancer center should be able to reopen Wednesday, July 17, and anyone who had scheduled appointments should call the center's main number at 630-232-0610 to reschedule, according to the City.
Those at Delnor cancer center were sheltered in place and have been allowed to exit the building if needed, the City said. Those who do not have a pressing need to visit the hospital campus are encouraged to stay away from the area as Nicor crews attend to the gas leak, the City added in the release.
