Festival Of The Vine Requires Street Closures, Parking Restrictions

The long-running fall festival will be centered around the historic Kane County Courthouse in downtown Geneva.

GENEVA, IL — Festival of the Vine will take place Sept. 5-7 in downtown Geneva. In anticipation, the Geneva Police Department announced the expected road closures.

In its 43rd year, the event will bring together local food, wine and live music for a family-friendly weekend.

The event will be centered around the historic Kane County Courthouse, 100 S. Third St. The Flavor Fare and entertainment stage will be set up on James Street, while the arts and crafts show will take place on Campbell Street. A schedule of events planned during the Festival of the Vine can be found on the Geneva Chamber of Commerce website.

Beginning at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 2, two roads will close: James Street from the middle of the 300 block to Fifth Street, and Fourth Street from the middle of the 0 to 100 block to James Street. At 11:59 p.m. Sept. 5, Campbell Street from Third to Fourth streets will close to through traffic.

Parking restrictions will begin late Thursday on the following streets:

  • Fifth Street: both sides of the roadway from State to Campbell streets, plus the west side of the 200 and 300 blocks
  • James Street: six spots on the south side west of Third Street
  • 400 and 600 blocks of Campbell Street
  • 200 and 300 blocks of Fourth Street (west side only)

Parking restrictions will be lifted when the festival ends on Sept. 7, while road closures will remain in place until 3 p.m. Sept. 8. Vehicles parked in restricted areas may be ticketed or towed.

Police may use a drone at times during the festival to "support public safety by providing real-time aerial monitoring," officials said.

"The Geneva Police Department thanks the public for its cooperation and wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable festival experience," officials said.
