GENEVA, IL – An annual fundraising event that benefits a Geneva-based food bank that serves thousands of families in northern Illinois that struggle with food insecurity raised more than $375,000, event organizers recently announced.

The 11th annual A Taste That Matters event was held on June 22 in Oakbrook Terrance and provided the generous sum of funding for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, which provides 80 million meals each year to residents in 13 suburban communities throughout northern Illinois.

More than 500 attendees enjoyed an extensive silent auction, open bar, and food tastings from dozens of local chefs and vendors at the event, which goes each year to support the Geneva-based Northern Illinois Food Bank, which partners with 900 food pantries, soup kitchens, and feeding programs from around the region.

“We are grateful for the generous support of our event sponsors, tasting partners, and guests who stand with us in the fight against hunger,” Maeven Sipes, chief philanthropy officer for the Northern Illinois Food Bank said in a statement released late last week by the agency. “With the rising cost of food, inflation, and the ending of the government emergency SNAP benefits, we are seeing more neighbors reaching out for food assistance. Together we can make sure neighbors get the fresh and nutritious food they need to thrive with dignity, equity, and convenience.”
