Route 31 Underpass Closure Coming Up
Union Pacific will be conducting train bridge repairs requiring a portion of Route 31 to close to through traffic.

GENEVA, IL — The Route 31 underpass in Geneva will close for two days in June to make way for train bridge repairs.
Union Pacific is helming the construction scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. June 2. Route 31 will be closed to through traffic from Third to South streets until 5 p.m. June 3.
The official detour route will direct drivers traveling north on Route 31 to use Fabyan Parkway, Route 25 and State Street. The route will be reversed for southbound drivers. Trucks will also be directed to use the same route.

Local traffic can use Third Street to cross the Union Pacific-West Railway tracks. Commuter trains will continue to operate their regular schedule during the closure.
City officials said the repair schedule is weather-dependent and could change.
