Geneva Memorial Day Parade, Youth Triathlon Will Require Several Street Closures

A few street closures will impact traffic Memorial Day weekend in Geneva.

GENEVA, IL — Two Memorial Day weekend events are planned in Geneva, bringing with them temporary street closures.

The MMTT Youth Triathlon race is scheduled for 6:30-9:30 a.m. May 25, and the Memorial Day Parade will step off the following morning at 10 a.m. from the Geneva Train Station.

The race will be held at the Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital campus and surrounding roadways. The following streets will be closed:

  • Williamsburg Avenue west of Randall Road
  • Fisher Drive north of Heartland Drive to Bricher Road
  • Bricher Road west of Camden Street to Peck Road

Delnor Hospital's campus, at 300 Randall Road, will be accessible from Keslinger Road. The Fisher Farms subdivision, west of Fisher Drive, will be open at Keslinger Road, Heartland Drive and Prairieview Drive.

Geneva police and race officials will help residents living east of Fisher Drive, north of Williamsburg, in leaving or returning to their streets. Some delays should be expected when runners and bicyclists are on the road.

On Monday, the American Legion Fox River Geneva Post 75 will host its annual Memorial Day parade. The event will feature the color guard, local veterans, youth scouting organizations and the Geneva High School marching band.

The procession will travel north on Third Street to the World War I Memorial in Wheeler Park, where a Memorial Day ceremony will be held following the parade.

Third Street, as well as the intersection of State Street and Third Street, will be closed during the parade. Although the parade is short, police encourage drivers to use Route 25 as an alternate route.

Parking will be prohibited on Third Street between Crescent and Stevens streets starting at 8 a.m. May 26.
