Thriller On 38 Brings 'Zombie-Tastic' Dance Performance To Downtown Geneva
It's the first time Jamie Vargo, the owner of Vargo's Dance and host of the event, is working with a Destination Geneva grant from the city.

GENEVA, IL — A "zombie-tastic" dance performance is planned Oct. 11 for the eighth annual Thriller on 38 in downtown Geneva.
Jamie Vargo, the owner of Vargo's Dance, is putting on the event, a nod to Michael Jackson's famous "Thriller" music video. Two performances are planned for Thriller on 38: The first starts at 7:30 p.m., and the second will commence at 8:15 p.m. They'll take place in the parking lot behind the dance studio, located at 205 W. State St.
"Thriller on 38 is more than a dance performance — it is a community-wide celebration combining the arts, fitness and public performance in a [family-friendly] format," city officials said.

While Vargo has almost a decade of hosting the event under her belt, this marks the first time she has received a Destination Geneva grant to help organize the show. The program is designed to maintain and improve the city's appeal as a destination by providing reimbursement for special events that result in increased visits, overnight stays and innovative experiences, according to the City of Geneva.
"Jamie’s only ask?" officials wrote in a news release. "Show some local love by grabbing dinner, drinks, or dessert at Geneva's local restaurants, wineries, and breweries before or after the show."
