Water Main Break In Downtown Geneva Now Repaired: Public Works

Southbound Seventh Street was blocked off to drivers for one block due to a water main break.

GENEVA, IL — A water main broke Thursday morning at the intersection of State and Seventh streets in downtown Geneva.

Southbound Seventh Street was closed from Route 38 to James Street after the incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. Geneva Public Works crews fixed the problem about three hours later.

As of 10:44 a.m., all lanes of traffic reopened to drivers, officials said in an update.

All lanes on State Street remained opened, but drivers were unable to turn southbound onto Seventh Street. Northbound Seventh Street lanes remained open.

Officials did not say what caused the water main break.
