GENEVA, IL — A city-helmed project to replace a water main near the Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital Health and Fitness Center is set to begin in a week, officials said.

A contractor will mobilize equipment during the week of July 21, and construction is slated to start the following week. The project is "designed to enhance water service reliability for the area," according to a news release.

Construction is expected to be substantially completed by late August, with the full project wrapping up in mid-September, weather permitting. To minimize inconvenience, officials said the city scheduled the work to coincide with the fitness center's pool maintenance closure from July 28 to Aug. 11.

Access to the fitness center, other Delnor Hospital buildings and Delnor Drive will remain open during construction, but visitors should be mindful of contractors and equipment, officials said.

The main driving lane in the parking lot for the fitness center will be open, but some aisles may temporarily close for the project. Water service is also not expected to be disrupted except when the new main is connected to the building, for which the hospital will receive advanced notice.
