Other utility companies at conducting more extensive work on State Street, pushing construction into 2026, officials said in an update.

GENEVA, IL — All westbound lanes of State Street have reopened Friday after Verizon completed the majority of its utility work, Geneva officials announced.
The curbside lane was shut down from Route 25 to East Side Drive while Verizon relocated its underground utilities in preparation for a project to widen and enhance Route 38.
Verizon’s contractor will finish remaining work just east of the Fox River bridge, but operations are expected to occur predominantly in the parkway. A temporary lane closure will be implemented on an as-needed basis, officials said.
