Glen Ellyn Earns Tree City Designation For 39th Time

GLEN ELLYN, IL — For the 39th year, Glen Ellyn was recognized as Tree City USA location by the Arbor Day Foundation.

This year's distinction was also the second time in two years that the village was honored with the foundation's Growth Award. That distinction recognizes municipalities that have made strides in developing sustainable forestry programs, according to a news release.

Trees have been the focus of much of Glen Ellyn's recent streetscape improvements. The initiative includes planting more than 200 new trees downtown to replace old trees and add more greenery.
