Glen Ellyn Trustee Tim Elliott to Resign

Former Trustree Diane McGinley will be appointed to complete Elliott's term.

Glen Ellyn, IL – Trustee Tim Elliott, who last week was elected to the DuPage County Board, will resign from the Village of Glen Ellyn Board. The resignation will be effective Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Village Board meeting. Glen Ellyn Village President Alex Demos has announced that he will appoint former Trustee Diane McGinley to complete Elliott’s term.

Elliott served for three and a half years on the Village’s Board. Prior to being elected as Trustee, Elliott served on the Village’s Plan Commission from 2012-13. During Elliott’s time on the Board, he successfully helped the Village in securing a AAA Bond Rate. His efforts also kept property taxes flat for the past three years. Elliott was instrumental in a number of Capital Improvement projects for the Village including the new Police Station, the Lake Ellyn Storm Water Project and the Crescent Boulevard project. During his time on the Village Board, his accomplishments also included the annexation of 150 residential properties in 2015.
In response to Elliott’s resignation, Village of Glen Ellyn President Alex Demos said, “Trustee Elliott’s contributions while on the Village Board and Plan Commission will have long-term, positive effects on our community. I want to thank him for his dedication to the Village over the past four years and I look forward to working with him in his new capacity.”

At the November 21 Special Village Board meeting, the Village Board will be asked to approve President Demos’ appointment of former Trustee Diane McGinley to fill Trustee Elliott’s term on the Village Board, which runs through May 2017. McGinley previously served on the Village Board from 2011 until 2015, alongside President Demos and Trustee Elliott.

President Demos said this about Diane McGinley, “I am very pleased to appoint her to this position. During her time as a Trustee, she showed tremendous leadership in freezing property taxes and finding ways to reduce spending. Glen Ellyn will be well-served by having her back on the Board.”

Elliott said, “I have the outmost respect for Diane McGinley and I am confident that she will serve the remaining months of my term with distinction. I have no doubt that she will proudly serve the residents of Glen Ellyn.”
