A Graduate From DayBreak Tells Her Story
Words cannot describe how much DayBreak meant to me and I hope the community knows that they made a forever difference in my family life.
Before entering Daybreak I was sleeping on the floor of my son’s bedroom in my mom’s house. Unable to figure out a way out of debt and unhappy with life; I thought I was a failure. Through the Daybreak program I was able to not only become financially stable but my mentality and overall health has become better. I was shown kindness from my mentors from day one. If I needed something, all I had to do was ask my mentors and the church made sure to help me the best they could.
For Thanksgiving a family of the church made a huge food basket, during Christmas time a family choose my son and I for a food/toy basket, for my birthday the church gave me small gifts I was not able to afford myself, when I struggled mentally; one of the women in Daybreak gave me two books that helped with healing of the mind.
There were so many moments over these past two years that truly made me see how much humanity is still in this world. Being a part of this program brought peace, happiness and faith back into my life and I am truly blessed to have been given this opportunity.
Coming out of the program; I left with no debt, savings I would have never had if not for this program and a house to call my home. Everything about my son and my life has improved because I was given this opportunity. We would not be where we are today without the kindness of the people at St. Scholastica, the Daybreak team and my mentors. I am truly grateful for everyone who had an involvement in helping me in Daybreak.
