Joe Wark, Former Glen Ellyn Village President, Dead At 89
Joe Wark, who died Sunday, was remembered for "breaking barriers" during his time as village manager in Glen Ellyn.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn is mourning the loss of former village president and trustee Joe Wark, who died Sunday at the age of 89.
Wark started his career in Glen Ellyn politics as a village commissioner more than 30 years ago after he retired from the BNSF Railroad. He then served as village trustee from 1990 through 1995 before becoming village president from 1997 to 2001.
Motivated by concerns for the environment, Wark later served as a member of the DuPage County Stormwater Committee and as chairman of Glen Ellyn in Bloom.

Current Glen Ellyn Village President Mark Franz said in a statement, “We are deeply saddened by Mr. Wark’s passing but honored to have known him. He broke down barriers and was a champion for the betterment of our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."
