Spring Cleaning In Full Swing At Recycling Extravaganza In Glen Ellyn

Saturday's free Recycling Extravaganza will be held at College of DuPage.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn residents can kick their spring cleaning into full gear by unloading items at a Recycling Extravaganza that's planned for Saturday.

The free event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at College of DuPage, is presented by Dart Container, SCARCE, Flat Can Recycling, Project Cure, Cub Scout Pack 32 and the Lion's Club.

  • Bikes and bike accessories
  • Books
  • Car seats (fee applies)
  • Durable medical equipment
  • Electronics (fees apply for TVs, monitors, smoke detectors)
  • Foam cups, coolers, package inserts
  • Glasses
  • Hearing aids
  • Holiday lights
  • Inkjet cartridges
  • Keys
  • LP records
  • Paint (fee applies for latex paint, aerosol cans)

Cub Scout Pack 32 will also be collecting American flags.

Where: College of DuPage Parking Lot 6

"We at Dart Container are thrilled to support this recycling event hosted by the Village of Glen Ellyn," Libby Rice, Sustainability Program Manager for Dart Container, told Patch.

Rice added, "By providing a convenient and sustainable way for residents to dispose of hazardous waste, we can collectively divert recyclable materials from our landfills and help contribute to a cleaner, greener future."
