Trustees Aim to Make Glen Ellyn More Developer Friendly

Officials recently agreed to loosen their parameters on selling village-owned land, according to reports.

Local trustees are getting a little more flexible with their requirements for selling village-owned land in hopes of making Glen Ellyn more "developer friendly," according to recent reports.

Trustees agreed last week to lower the number of votes needed to approve the sale of village-owned property, according to The Daily Herald, which cites a February 2015 ordinance as the reason behind the currently mandated super majority vote — specifically, six of seven board members.

"We want to remain economically, developmentally competitive with other communities," Planning and Development Director Staci Hulseberg said, in the story. "And there's been some concerns that have been raised with us about the process in place."

Only five votes will now be necessary to sell village land outside of a tax increment financing district. Within a TIF district, the board could need as few as four of seven votes.
