Winter Curbside Composting Continues Through March In Glen Ellyn
See how you can take part in the village's winter curbside composting program.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Residents can take part in the village's winter curbside composting program through March. The program, facilitated by Groot Industries, allows residents to reserve food and yard waste for composting.
The following items can be composted via the program:
- Fruit and vegetable scraps
- Bread scraps
- Pasta
- Eggshells
- Dairy products
- Tea leaves
- Coffee grounds
- Plant leaves and cut flowers
- Grass clippings
- Leaves and brush
Crews will not accept the following items for composting:

- Invasive plants
- Pet/human waste
- Diapers
- Plastic, glass, styrofoam
- Treated wood
- Compostable paper that has been soiled
- Plant-based cups and utensils
Pricing for the composting program is $13 for a 35 gallon container, $15.11 for a 65 gallon container and $18.81 for a 95 gallon container. Stickers are not required for food and yard waste if a resident is using a composting container.
