Georgio Rich, 37, of Merrillville, Indiana, is accused of driving under the influence, had an out-of-state warrant, and was arrested at 5:57 p.m. Nov. 28, in the 1300 block of Greenwood Road. He was taken to the Cook County Department of Corrections for a conditions hearing.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

White graffiti was found at 12:27 p.m. Nov. 25, on a concrete support pole on the west side of the roadway for the Metra bridge in the 500 block of Waukegan Road.

INFORMATION FOR POLICE

An employee of a business in the 1700 block of Glenview Road reported at 1:27 p.m. Nov. 25, a man had attempted to buy an item valued at $8,798.26 with a debit card and used the processing machine to type in his pin. The machine printed out an approved receipt, but then the employee saw the machine had been put into test mode and no transaction was submitted. The employee did not complete the sale.

THEFT

  • A resident of the 900 block of 9th Street reported at 7:06 p.m. Nov. 25, that their rear license plate had been taken and replaced with another plate that did not belong to them. The investigation revealed their license plate was put on a vehicle that had been involved in catalytic convertor thefts in Mount Prospect and Des Plaines.
  • Employees of a business in the 1800 block of Tower Road reported at 10:47 a.m. Nov. 26, a female that had previously stolen $117.90 in merchandise two days earlier was back in the store. After an investigation, she was cited on village ordinance for theft and issued a trespass notice.
  • A resident of the 1700 block of Brush Hill Lane reported at 3:23 p.m. Nov. 30, someone had removed several pieces of mail from the mailbox. A neighbor saw a male, white or Hispanic, with a puffy jacket, blue knit cap, and jeans, going through the mailboxes.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A Hillside resident reported at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 26, their car had been towed by a tow company in Glenview after a crash on the expressway investigated by Illinois State Police. The vehicle owner reported sometime between the accident, the trip to the Glenview tow yard, and going to another tow yard in Wheeling, personal items were stolen from inside the car.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

Police responded to the 3600 block of West Lake Avenue at 5:04 a.m. Nov. 28, where several offices had been broken into.

TRESPASS WARNING

Employees for a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road reported at 7:11 p.m. Nov. 29, three Northbrook residents were $30 short of paying their bill. The three were all given verbal trespass warnings and told not to come back.

STOLEN VEHICLE

Employees for a business in the 2000 block of Waukegan Road reported at 2:20 p.m. Dec. 1, a vehicle had been stolen by someone falsely representing themselves as an authorized tow truck company. Total loss is $85,000.
