Gas Prices Continue Surging In Glenview, State: AAA

GLENVIEW, IL — Gas prices throughout the state continue to go up with no relief in sight.

The average price of gas in Lake County is currently $5.09 per gallon, according to AAA. In Cook County, customers will pay a bit more, with the average price at $5.25 as of Friday.

Gas prices in the Chicago area, at an average price of $5.35 (compared to $4.77 in April), were well above the state average of $4.98 on Friday. In April, the average price of gas in Illinois was $4.37.

The increases are especially sharp considering that the average gas price in Illinois was just $3.24 a year ago. The average price in Chicago this time last year was $3.576.

Nationally, Illinois is well above the average cost of gas, which is currently $4.59 per gallon.

Despite the increasing prices, shopping around in Glenview can lead to some relief at the pump, even if it's minor.
