Glenview Beer and Music Fest Returns This Saturday

Glenview county band "Blue Rose" plays the second stage

The free Glenview beer and music festival is Saturday! The annual event is held on Glenview Road Church and Pine streets in downtown from 11 am to 11 pm.
Local favorite Blue Rose is playing on the second stage at 7:15 pm. The country band from Glenview played the fest last year and released their first CD earlier this year. The album release party was held at Macushia Brewing Company in Glenview on May 30. Glenview resident Jori Griffith is the lead singer and Marcus Gebauer is the lead guitarist and vocals.
Surprisingly, the festival is not run by the Village of Glenview or the Glenview Park District but instead currently by a downtown Glenview non-profit organization started by Cathy, the owner of The Glenview Grind.
The annual festival was started in Glenview in September 2019. The event was conceived in 2018 by local businessmen and had its inaugural celebration on September 28, 2019. Brian Schafer, owner of Ten Ninety Brewing, and Bob Hausheer, co-owner of Morning Glory Flower Shop, brainstormed the idea in the summer of 2018, feeling that Glenview lacked a large downtown community event. Ten Ninety Brewing closed down earlier this year. The festival was canceled in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first year featured the best band they have ever had, The Victor Brown Band.
In a recent interview with the Glenview Daily, Hausheer said he is happy with the way the festival has progressed and said he is still active on the festival’s board.
The musical lineup offers a full day of diverse acts. On the main stage at Church Street is Sweeney at 2:30 pm, Heads All Empty at 2:30 pm, Chicken Bone at 4:30 pm, Chris Karabas Band at 6 pm, and 16 Candles (an 80s cover band) at 8:30 pm. On the second stage at Pine Street is Polka Confetti at 11 am, Twelve Tone at 12 pm, Joey Acopiado Band at 3:30 pm, Echoes of the Alps at 5:30 pm and also listed on the web page is Oil Lamp Theater at 5:30 pm and then Blue Rose at 7:15 pm.
Sweeney is a contemporary Chicago-based musical act, described as a blend of chaotic and melodic sounds, with their music having a genre that is both rock and experimental. They are known for their dynamic style. Heads All Empty hails from the western slope in Steamboat Springs, Co., a Grateful Dead tribute with deep grooves, dual drummers, soaring guitars, and lush harmonies.
If you live in Evanston, there’s a good chance you’ve listened to our local gang of musical heroes, Chicken Bone. This 10-piece ensemble is a much-loved mainstay of the music scene in our town. The versatile and enthusiastic cover band is not a flash in the pan. Chicken Bone came together more than 17 years ago during a birthday party in north Evanston. The group is sustained by deep friendships and the sheer joy of making music without worrying about fame and fortune. Chris Karabas is a Nashville/Chicago based Country Music Songwriter, Singer, and Producer.
Twelve Tone band is from Twelve Tone music school. Joey Acopiado is a songwriter and guitarist - a student of the wide scope of contemporary music. From Rock to R&B, Acopiado covers it all, handcrafting each song with a clear respect and admiration for his musical heroes. However, this drive to nod his head to the golden-ages-gone-by of many genres has never impeded Acopiado on his mission to write things refreshingly unique. Blue Rose Band is a Glenview based band that plays their own songs which are a unique style of country music with remarkable vocals. They play classic Rock, folk, country, pop and Alternative tunes from the past through present.
Food will be for sale at the annual festival by Glenview Grind, Forza Meats, Grandpa’s, Siunik Armenian Grill, and Riobamba Latin Grill. Along with late night food trucks from Culinary Gangster and Misericordia Sweet Shoppe Bakery and Gifts. Beer will be supplied by Terre Haute Brewing Company located in Indiana.
